Christmas magic: Chesterfield function venue

As we move into December, everyone’s mind turns to the big event: Christmas 2013.  Full of pantomimes, parties and Christmas fayres, December promises to be the busiest month of the year, full of joy, love and celebrations.

We truly love Christmas, the season to be joyful and thankful.  Our Christmas decorations are now up and our tree looks beautiful.  As a function venue, and a strong part of the local community, Ashover Parish Hall does not get left behind in the celebrations.  In fact, we’ve already hosted our first Christmas function; the very successful Ashover toddler group and school’s Christmas Fayre which took place on the 29th November.  This community event helped to raise over £200 for local organisations, as well as bringing the village nicely into December.

Christmas lunch

Christmas is a time for celebrating relationships, both family and friends and gives us the chance to exchange gifts and spend time with the people who matter to us.  At Ashover Parish Hall our function venue is used to host special social occasions throughout the year, but especially at Christmas where our guests can enjoy the magical atmosphere created by the dark nights and the stunning Christmas decorations.  This year, following on from previous successful get togethers, we will once again be hosting many annual Christmas lunches, including the WI, Ashover Old People’s Association and Clay Cross Swimming Club.  These lunch-time Christmas specials are always plenty of fun, with lots of laughter, chatter and enjoyment, and have become a really special part of our Christmas calendar.

It’s not Christmas without the pantomime.  And our Chesterfield function venue is the perfect location for Ashover panto, which this year is going to be held in early January.  Our hall is full of shouts, screams and general merriment as the audience gets involved with the action and celebrates the Christmas spirit.  Always a sell-out success, and a massive community celebration, the village pantomime brings out the Christmas spirit across the village.  The show this year is Jack and the Beanstalk and is sure to be a big hit.  Oh no it isn’t.  Oh yes it is!

Our community function venue is also proud to hold the annual concert of Ashover Brass Band.  Always filling our hall with happy guests, singing and dancing away, this evening is always a success.  One of the best things for us, the team at Ashover Parish Hall, is seeing the hall filled with happiness and this band certainly does that.  A great way to spend a Christmas evening.  See http://www.ashoverparishhall.com/news.php?id=27 to find out more about this event.

What better way to celebrate the season to be thankful than to learn a new skill and bring something extra to Christmas whilst you’re at it?  Our function venue is hosting two Christmas floral arranging workshop, teaching guests to create stunning floral Christmas decorations.  The workshop is being held on 16th December.  See http://www.ashoverparishhall.com/news.php?id=5  to find out more information.  Maybe you can use your new skills to create fabulous Christmas gifts?

For us, the most exciting event of Christmas this year, is to host a Christmas wedding.  Using Ashover Parish Hall as a wedding venue means bringing a little bit of Christmas magic to the couple’s special day.  Because Christmas weddings are always a little bit unusual, they seem to have an extra bit of magic.  Perhaps it’s the decorations, the Christmassy colours or the general spirit, but December weddings are always memorable.
